The Order of Meditation and Prayer

Pray and confess out loud as much from the order of meditation and prayer as you are able, or as your family size and ages dictate.

The sign of the cross may be made by all in remembrance of their Baptism.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

O Lord, open my lips

And my mouth will declare your praise

Make haste, O God, to deliver me

Make haste to help me, O Lord

Lo, to us the Christ is born

O come, let us worship Him

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth.

We have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son of the Father.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit;

as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be forever. Amen.

Psalm of the Week: Psalm 68

Catechism of the Week: The Lord’s Prayer - The Conclusion: For Thine is the kingdom and the power and glory forever and ever. Amen. What does this mean? This means that I should be certain that these petitions are pleasing to our Father in heaven, and are heard by him; for He Himself has commanded us to pray in this way and has promised to hear us. Amen, amen means “yes, yes, it shall be so.”

Collect for the Day of Pentecost: O God, on this day You once taught the hearts of Your faithful people by sending them the light of Your Holy Spirit. Grant us in our day by the same Spirit to have a right understanding in all things and evermore to rejoice in His holy consolation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.

In Our Prayers this Week: Healing and recovery for Laverne Roth, Carolee Roth, and Avery Schmidt. Pray for faithfulness to the end; for the renewel of those who are withering in the faith or have fallen away; for receptive hearts and minds to God’s Word on the Lord’s Day…add to your prayers whomever you know is in need of God’s mercy.
